Tracey Adams was responsible for the importation of the first Caspian breeding herd to Canada in June 2006. Brought from Texas, a stallion and three unrelated mares were carefully chosen to be the Canadian foundation herd. These mares were bred before their departure, including as many bloodlines as possible. At that point, Serenity Caspian Horses was established.
In the summer of 2007, three beautiful foals were born. Serenity Stella Borealis was the first Caspian foaled in Canada. In 2008, yet another three exceptional foals graced the Canadian landscape. Through prudent breeding, and trade with American breeders, other bloodlines were introduced.
The summer of 2009 brought many changes, but no foals, as the breeding program was put on hold. The changes included moving to a new farm, and selection of a new farm name. The wild beauty and courage apparent on most merry-go-round horses seem to reflect the personality of the Caspian, and so Carousel Caspians Canada was born!
The Eastern Canada population of Caspians now totals eleven, with six of them residing at Carousel. In 2010, the breeding program will resume.
